Social Media Charlotte (SMCLT) was formed in 2009 and has grown and evolved throughout the years to provide members of the social media, communications, and marketing communities with an organization dedicated to improving the education and use of social media and digital marketing in the Charlotte region - this still rings true today.

We are here to bring together people from different parts of Charlotte’s rapidly growing social media and digital marketing community by providing resources, hosting events, and fostering dialogue.

One of the questions we are frequently asked by our members and followers is about how they can get more involved with Social Media Charlotte. Here is a list of ways to fully involve yourself with all-things SMCLT.

  1. Become a Member:
Membership has its privileges’ - just kidding - but there are benefits to joining SMCLT. Members enjoy priority registration to all of our events, invitations to special member-only programming, free or reduced event fees, and a member-only newsletter to name a few. Coming in late 2020: LinkedIn networking group!
  2. Attend Program and Networking Events*:
Whether you choose to be a member or not, attending events is a great way to continue to learn in an ever-changing industry. We value learning from real-life examples and offering a diverse group of expert speakers and panelists at our events because we value perspectives from all levels of social and digital marketing. In addition, we know that leaving time for networking before and/or after events is incredibly helpful in building relationships, meeting new colleagues, and finding others to partner with in the same industry.
*As a result of COVID-19 most of our events are taking place virtually but, eventually we plan to have in-person events again.

  3. Volunteer on a Committee:
As a local professional development organization, we depend on volunteers to run our operations. We have several committees for which we are always looking to add committed and engaged volunteers to help us plan and execute events, create content, and develop and publish content to our social and digital channels. Interested in learning more about serving on an SMCLT committee, please email us at socialmediaclt@gmail.com.
  4. Follow and Connect with SMCLT on our Social Accounts:
    Facebook
    Instagram
    LinkedIn
    Twitter

  5. Recommend Us to a Friend
Chances are that if you enjoy our programming and content, a work colleague or friend may as well. Everyone is welcome at our events and to be a part of SMCLT. We know that our organization only grows stronger with the input and feedback from those working in social media and digital marketing from a variety of industries and different backgrounds.

As one of their perks, Members are encouraged to invite a friend or colleague to one event per year for free (no cost to attend for the guest).
  6. Takeover our IG account:
Apply to take over the @SMCLT Instagram account. This is a great way to grow your audience and promote your brand, event, or business. At this time, this is only available to SMCLT members and industry leaders.

  7. Write a Blog for our Website:
Do you love creating content and sharing your experience and tips around social media and digital marketing? Submit a request to publish your industry related blog on our website (attributing you as the author). We will then repurpose part of it on our social media channels again giving your credit. At this time, this is only available to SMCLT members and industry leaders.

  8. Submit an Event Proposal:
Our board and events committee do their best to come up with unique, timely, skill-building, and engaging programming for our members and community. However, we can always use a little help. If you have an idea for a program or event that is relevant to social media and/or digital marketing, we would love to hear it. Share your event idea or proposal with us at socialmediaclt@gmail.com and if it meets our event criteria, we’ve love to partner with you on adding it to our calendar.
  9. Request a chat with a board member:
We know that sometimes it is just easier to talk to a real live person. If you have specific questions about joining SMCLT, attending an event, have an idea worth sharing, or are just looking to learn more about SMCLT and how you can get involved, our board members are happy to chat. Email us at socialmediaclt@gmail.com to inquire about scheduling a brief Zoom call or phone conversation with one of our board members.

Other Thoughts?

We’d love to hear how you would like to get more involved with SMCLT. Please email us at socialmediaclt@gmail.com and let us know what ideas you have for us.
